  Teaching Aims:

  1.      Enable the students to get some information of Yuan Longping and his great achievements;

  2.      Help the students to form good reading habits and master some key reading skills;

  3.      Ask the students to form the spirit of interaction and cooperation.

  Teaching important and difficult points:

  1.      Help the students to master some reading skills;

  2.      How to enable the students to learn about more information;

  3.      Encourage the students to discuss and read actively.

  Teaching methods:

  1.      Discussion and cooperation; 2. Task-based learning;3. Pair-work and group-work

  Teaching aids:

  1.      Courseware;    2. Pictures;    3. Blackboard.

  Teaching procedures:

  Step 1: Greetings and leading-in:

  Ask students to look at the some pictures and learn about the main topic of this unit. Use thepoem“ The Peasant’s lot”《悯农》 to show thehard work of farmers. Tell the Ss to cherish(珍惜)the food

  Step 2 Reading and Comprehending:

  1. What is the passage about?

  It’s about A Pioneer for all People—Yuan Longping.

  2. Skimming

  Match the following headings(标题)to each paragraph.(连线)

  First ask the Ss to do it individually and then do pair work to discuss. Then ask some Ss to share their opinions.

  3. Careful reading

  (1).Personal information

  First ask the Ss to do it individually, then do group-work to discuss and ask some Ss to write their answers on the blackboard, and discuss together.

  (2). Put the following sentences in right order.

  a. He was born into a poor farmer’s family .

  If that happened, people there would suffer from starvation and the whole country would get into trouble.

  Discussion:What is happening to these people?

  Do you want to end the famine(饥荒)in theworld ?If you had the chance to do something to help end hunger in the world, what would you do ?

  The measures taken to deal with hunger:

  Invent a new kind of plant to produce more food.

  Find a sort of fertilizer to give rice enough nutrition.

  Stop the pollution to the environment and protect the soil in the field.

  Step 4 Summary and Homework

  Suppose you were Yuan Longping  , please write a short passage to introduce yourself

  (less than 150 words).

  学生的兴趣,为教学创设了相关的环境,活跃了学生和课堂。充分发挥了学生的主观能动性。

  2、课堂备课充分,教学目标明确,学生能力得到锻炼;

  3、注重学习方法指导,教学设计有的放矢。

  改进设想:

  1、学生基础参差不齐,要在分层教学,因材施教上下功夫;

  2、新课程要求以学生为中心组织教学,需要更加充分调动学生积极性,主动

  参与课堂;

  3、学生主动阅读、主动探索的学习态度需要加强。
