创作背景
在2007年，当时60岁的美国导演罗伯·莱纳以一部《遗愿清单》表达了他对人生的终极思考。而在3年后，他却骤然换了一个角度，以一部改编自文德琳·范·德拉安南著名小说的电影《怦然心动》，从在童年、青春时光时男孩女孩间的“战争”表达他对人成长的思考。
演员阵容
在片中扮演那位有着很多奇思怪想的女孩的便是14岁的小演员玛德琳·卡罗尔。对于在本片中的角色，她也有她的理解，她认为当朱莉以不同的视角观察布莱斯时，都会有一次巨大的认知转折。因为她爱他如此之深，而布莱斯却未能表现出任何对她的爱，她以为他会帮助她，但是很遗憾他没有这么做。在玛德琳看来，正是这份孤独，才出现了本片令人印象深刻的镜头：朱莉紧紧的抓着那棵树，“因为那是她成长的依靠”。正是带着这种对角色的深层次理解，玛德琳很好的演绎了这个角色，也得到了导演的认可，罗伯·莱纳认为，玛德琳表现出了这种情感，献上了不可思议的演出。
《怦然心动》是卡兰·麦克奥利菲在美国的首部剧情长片，因此他表示，整个过程他都充满好奇，感受到了拍一部长片整个过程的有趣，同时还需要在口音上有些美国味儿。罗伯·莱纳的幽默给卡兰·麦克奥利菲留下的印象尤其深刻，在他看来，导演并没有刻意的教他们怎么演，而是给他们更大的空间去表演。
