My name is Ilana Wexler. I'm 12 years old, and I am the founder of “Kids for Kerry.”
Kids for Kerry is a grassroots organization of kids that support John Kerry, want to help their futures, and get active in politics.
When my parents went to see Teresa Heinz Kerry speak, they told me that she was amazing! -- and that they thought John Kerry would make a great President. I decided to find out more about John Kerry. I talk about what I learned by using my ABCs.
“A” is America. John Kerry is a hero to America, and he will help our futures. He is a great and positive role model.
“B” is Better education. John Kerry wants to make class sizes smaller, so that children get the best part out of learning. He wants to help teachers because being a teacher is educating children, and letting them out into the world to do good things.
“C” is Compassion towards children. John Kerry wants to make sure that health care is not a privilege, but it is something that we can all afford.
This summer, I was supposed to go to my favorite camp. But instead, I decided to go to the John Kerry office every day. Kids can really help!
On KidsforKerry.org, we have an interactive presidential quiz. There are 270 questions for the electoral votes John Kerry will win. Plus, 25 questions to make up for Florida from the last election.
Our next goal is to have a petition for “National No Name-Calling Day,” a day that the candidates don't say anything negative about one another. When our Vice President had a disagreement with a Democratic senator, he used a REALLY BAD word.
If I said that -- If I said that word, I would be put in a “time-out.”
I think he should be put in a time-out.
The last time I saw John Kerry, he grabbed my arm and said, “See you at the convention.” And here I am!
What will be even more amazing will be the inauguration in January, when we have a new President, knowing that kids have made a difference in this election.
To summarize, Teresa Heinz Kerry: Inspirational, amazing!
John Kerry: American hero, next President.
Kids need-Kids need positive-Kids need positive role models in politics. And our Vice President deserves a long time-out.
Kids-Kids, this is about our futures. Make sure all adults you know get out and vote.
We can have a voice today!
Thank you!
Good morning/afternoon, ladies and gentlemen.
Consider the lowly toilet. Many of you may not think of the toilet as a form of technology if you think of toilets at all. But, it is and has contributed greatly to the improved health and overall quality of life for mankind.
On a recent trip to Japan, I was impressed by, among other things, a gadget in most public women's restrooms, called Otohime or Sound Princess. This device produces the sound of flushing water without the need for actual flushing. The technology saves the user both the embarrassment of being heard during urination and some 20 liters of water per use in cases where a woman might flush the toilet continuously while using it.
Every time I used Otohime, I felt like a princess, an environmentalist princess on the toilet.
It was a longed for feeling. Over the past decade, I shuffled in and out of many kinds of public restrooms in China--filthy smelly water closets in outlying areas, spacious luxurious lavatories in five-star hotels, forever-occupied girls' stalls on campus during school, and smart modern mobile toilets in international fairs. But not one single "room" evoked my pride of being a princess.
And I knew why the Sound Princess had. It was not because of the high technology the small bathroom boasted which is becoming ubiquitous worldwide. It was the idealism embodied in the technology that keeps reminding me that in this ever-changing world, I am a responsible and dignified human being even when sitting on a toilet.
Humanism, no matter how it is defined, aims to strike a balance between us being at the mercy of nature and being too human-centered. In my case, I haven't relieved myself under a tree for a while. I am a proud, dutiful Chinese citizen. Gone are the days when people just found a corner to do their business resulting in poor sanitation and threats to public health. The Otohimetechnology renders me two warnings: First, I am a humble human being with an obligation to save not only my face but also natural resources. Second, there is still a long way to go in my own country not just in developing technology and the economy, but also in upholding human dignity and promoting human welfare. Take the toilet: Dirty, crowdedtoilets shall, at least, give way to clean, human-friendly ones.
Fortunately, I have seen improvements. At Shanghai World Expo 20xx, 8,000 toilets, all modern and technologically sophisticated, were installed across the site. What really delighted the visitors, however, was the user-friendly design and services. Toilets were situated every 100 meters. Several hundred volunteers served as toilet guides and sanitation workers. The ratio of female to male toilet space was set at 2.5 to 1. Soft music was played in the toilets. All this seems to celebrate the glory of comprehensive humanism.
Ladies and gentlemen, science and technology are here to improve earthly life and maximize human happiness. When our world benefits from technology, coupled with human considerations, we are bound to enjoy our life. Conversely, we suffer.
The toilet is a piece of sanitaryware and the quintessence of humanism that underlies technological innovation. Like GNP, employment rates, and space exploration efforts, the lowly equipment is an equally important measure of a progressive society. When on a toilet if we feel like a princess, we shall be proud of living in a society that values humanity. If not, we must stand up and make some changes.
And if you are still baffled with what I have said, I suggest you take off right now and go experience the bathrooms in this auditorium, because they are what makes our life beautiful or ugly, humanism considered or ignored.

Deep Mother LoveEvery child is surrounded by the deep mother love.
However, we often turn a blind eye to the love. One day I deeply felt the day I hurried home for lunch after school, because there would be an exam in the afternoon and I had expected to go back to school early to prepare for the exam. But when I got Home, the lunch was not read from yet.
I felt unhappy. When the dishes were served, I forund none I like. I ran out of my house angrily and wanderde on the street for a while, hungry. Then I walked to I got into the classroom, I saw a lunch box on my desk. One classmate told me that it was my mother ther that had brought it r opening the box, I found my favorite food inside. My eyes was moist with tears.
Mother gave me her love without asking for return, How deep mother love is!

Let me wish to have our smooth and successful cooperation!
My plan for the future is that I would like to stay with children and share the moments in their lives and provide them with helpful advice, making friends with them and letting them feel you are the one they can talk and trust. I like English very much.with this idea, I want to combine my love for children with my ability of English together,so I can work in a pleasant environment doing the great things I enjoy doing. I consider myself with rich potential of qualifying out as a good English teacher.
I have a heart for children,a loving and caring heart. And I would certainly place it upon my students, being their close friend and sister.while with my creative and relaxing English teaching method, students would learn English through interacting with me or the others instead of being told what to say. I am also very open-minded and easy-going,which will make myself a popular figure everywhere.
And of course I am very much the type of the girl next door.always willing to take in suggestions and create a fun classroom for our next generation. I believe I've said quite enough of myself. I hope you now know more about me than just now. I would certainly cherish this job and get along very well with all people out here.
I thank you very much again for giving me this opportunity to talk with you. I am looking forward to hearing good news from you. Thank you !
verytime I am asked what I want to do in the future. I think a minute and say being a doctor is my dream job.
Doctor is an other kind of artist who does human art by fighting with diseases and making people feel good. I think it is a pleasure to try my best to bring happiness to others。 It is a feeling of pride and I am fond of it。 In modern life, a mass of people work day and night to seek wealth and as a result they ignore their health。 It is known that strong body is a foundation of beatific life。 I dreamed to be an excellent doctor who can help them have a right to enjoy life again. Curing people is a doctor's holy responsibility.
Being a doctor is my dream job, now I should study hard to gain more knowledge to reach my goal.

I was one of the only kids in college who had a reason to go to the P.O. box at the end of the day, and that was mainly because my mother has never believed in email, in Facebook, in texting or cell phones in general. And so while other kids were BBM-ing their parents, I was literally waiting by the mailbox to get a letter from home to see how the weekend had gone, which was a little frustrating when Grandma was in the hospital, but I was just looking for some sort of scribble, some unkempt cursive from my mother.
And so when I moved to New York City after college and got completely sucker-punched in the face by depression, I did the only thing I could think of at the time. I wrote those same kinds of letters that my mother had written me for strangers, and tucked them all throughout the city, dozens and dozens of them. I left them everywhere, in cafes and in libraries, at the U.N., everywhere. I blogged about those letters and the days when they were necessary, and I posed a kind of crazy promise to the Internet: that if you asked me for a hand-written letter, I would write you one, no questions asked. Overnight, my inbox morphed into this harbor of heartbreak -- a single mother in Sacramento, a girl being bullied in rural Kansas, all asking me, a 22-year-old girl who barely even knew her own coffee order, to write them a love letter and give them a reason to wait by the mailbox.
Well, today I fuel a global organization that is fueled by those trips to the mailbox, fueled by the ways in which we can harness social media like never before to write and mail strangers letters when they need them most, but most of all, fueled by crates of mail like this one, my trusty mail crate, filled with the scriptings of ordinary people, strangers writing letters to other strangers not because they're ever going to meet and laugh over a cup of coffee, but because they have found one another by way of letter-writing.
But, you know, the thing that always gets me about these letters is that most of them have been written by people that have never known themselves loved on a piece of paper. They could not tell you about the ink of their own love letters. They're the ones from my generation, the ones of us that have grown up into a world where everything is paperless, and where some of our best conversations have happened upon a screen. We have learned to diary our pain onto Facebook, and we speak swiftly in 140 characters or less.
But what if it's not about efficiency this time? I was on the subway yesterday with this mail crate, which is a conversation starter, let me tell you. If you ever need one, just carry one of these. (Laughter) And a man just stared at me, and he was like, "Well, why don't you use the Internet?" And I thought, "Well, sir, I am not a strategist, nor am I specialist. I am merely a storyteller." And so I could tell you about a woman whose husband has just come home from Afghanistan, and she is having a hard time unearthing this thing called conversation, and so she tucks love letters throughout the house as a way to say, "Come back to me. Find me when you can." Or a girl who decides that she is going to leave love letters around her campus in Dubuque, Iowa, only to find her efforts ripple-effected the next day when she walks out onto the quad and finds love letters hanging from the trees, tucked in the bushes and the benches. Or the man who decides that he is going to take his life, uses Facebook as a way to say goodbye to friends and family. Well, tonight he sleeps safely with a stack of letters just like this one tucked beneath his pillow, scripted by strangers who were there for him when.
These are the kinds of stories that convinced me that letter-writing will never again need to flip back her hair and talk about efficiency, because she is an art form now, all the parts of her, the signing, the scripting, the mailing, the doodles in the margins. The mere fact that somebody would even just sit down, pull out a piece of paper and think about someone the whole way through, with an intention that is so much harder to unearth when the browser is up and the iPhone is pinging and we've got six conversations rolling in at once, that is an art form that does not fall down to the Goliath of "get faster," no matter how many social networks we might join. We still clutch close these letters to our chest, to the words that speak louder than loud, when we turn pages into palettes to say the things that we have needed to say, the words that we have needed to write, to sisters and brothers and even to strangers, for far too long. Thank you. (Applause) (Applause)

for cleaning environment is necessary for us to keep in mind the three items.they are reduced, reused and recycled.reducing is the best way to protect the environment.however if you can’t reduce something we use it and if you can’t reuse it,you can recycle it.we do thing waste means shopping with environment in mind.considered environment impact even each products before you buy it.remember to make list what you need before you go shopping.this will reduce impulse buying.buy in bulk which means buy in large quantities and not pack it.it’s much cheaper and it delimits small tokens and e_cise packaging.avoid buy things that can’t be recycled.second, learning to reuse is easy after you make a little practice.for e_ample,you can reuse shopping bags by canvas bags and use them when you shop.
buy durable high quantity goods for a longer life.all the durable goods may cost a little more at first.they would save your money and help save the environment in longer.before for anything away, think about how each item can be reused.the last of the three items that we must keep in mind is recycling.recycling means collecting, processing, marketing and ultimately reusing material that we once thrown away.check the yellow pages of the internet to find information about local recycle programs in your community.

the rabbit and the wolfsquo;
one day a rabbit was walking near the hill. he heard someone crying, squo;help! help!squo;it was a wolf. a big stone was on the wolfs back. he cried, "mr. rabbit, take this big stone from my back, or i will die."
the rabbit moved the stone from the wolfs back. then the wolf jumped and caught the rabbit.
if you kill me, i will never help you again. cried the rabbit . ha,ha!you will not live, because i will kill you." said the wolf.
squo;i helped you. how can you kill me? itsquo;s unfair. you ask mrs. duck. she will say that you are wrong." said the rabbit. i will ask her, said the wolf.
so they went to ask mrs. duck. the duck listened to their story and said, what stone? i must see it. then i can know who is right. so the wolf and the rabbit and the duck went to see the stone.
"now, put the stone back," said mrs. duck. so they put the stone back. now the big stone is on the wolfsquo;s back again.
thatsquo;s all for my story. thanks for listening.
Dear leaders, teachers and students:
Good evening,everyone!
Falling leaves and returning to their roots, that is to be grateful for the cultivation of soil; The suckling sheep kneels down to the mother, which is to be grateful for the feeding of the ewe. The grace of parents' upbringing, teachers' education, the cultivation of the country and the care of friends all need us to cherish with our lives, thank with our sincere hearts and repay with practical actions. This is what I call gratitude, gratitude to others.
Gratitude is a basic conjecture of life, an embodiment of the quality of life and the basis for the beauty of all life. Gratitude is a great wisdom in life, which can make us feel the beauty of nature and life, maintain our positive, healthy and sunny state of mind, and have gratitude. We will be less picky about others and more appreciative and grateful to the environment.
If you are not grateful, happiness is far away;
If you will be grateful, happiness will be full.
Students, let's always be grateful; Cherish every gift of life, report to others with our true and beloved hearts, love the collective, contribute to the society, appreciate life and explore life!
Thank you!
A friend of mine named Paul received an automobile from his brother as a Christmas present. On Christmas Eve when Paul came out of his office, a street urchin was walking around the shiny new car, admiring it. Paul nodded. Of course Paul knew what he was going to wish for. He was going to wish he had a brother like that. But what the lad said jarred Paul all the way down to his heels. like that.Paul looked at the boy in astonishment, then impulsively he added, After a short ride, the boy turned with his eyes aglow, said.Paul smiled a little. He thought he knew what the lad wanted. He wanted to show his neighbors that he could ride home in a big automobile. But Paul was wrong again. He ran up the steps. Then in a little while Paul heard him coming back, but he was not coming fast. He was carrying his little crippled brother. He sat him down on the bottom step, then sort of squeezed up against him and pointed to the car.
We Are The World ,We Are The Future
Someone said we are reading the first verse of the first chapter of a book, whose pages are infinite. I dont know who wrote these words, but Ive always liked them as a reminder that the future can be anything we want it to be. We are all in the position of the farmers. If we plant a good seed ,we reap a good harvest. If we plant nothing at all, we harvest nothing at all. We are young. How to spend the youth? It is a meaningful question. To answer it, first I have to ask what do you understand by the word youth? Youth is not a time of life, its a state of mind. Its not a matter of rosy cheeks, red lips or supple knees. Its the matter of the will. Its the freshneof the deep spring of life. A poet said To see a world in a grain of sand, and a heaven in a wild flower, hold infinity in the palm of your hand, and eternity in an hour. Several days ago, I had a chance to listen to a lecture. I learnt a lot there. Id like to share it with all of you. Lets show our right palms. We can see three lines that show how our love.career and life is. I have a short line of life.
What about yours? I wondered whether we could see our future in this way. Well, lets make a fist. Where is our future? Where is our love, career, and life? Tell me.Yeah, it is in our hands. It is held in ourselves. We all want the future to be better than the past. But the future can go better itself. Dont cry because it is over, smile because it happened. From the past, weve learnt that the life is tough, but we are tougher. Weve learnt that we cant choose how we feel, but we can choose what about it. Failure doesnt mean you dont have it, it does mean you should do it in a different way. Failure doesnt mean you should give up, it does mean you must try harder. As what I said at the beginning, we are reading the first verse of the first chapter of a book, whose pages are infinite. The past has gone. Nothing we do will change it. But the future is in front of us. Believe that what we give to the world, the world will give to us. And from today on, lets be the owners of ourselves, and speak out We are the world, we are the future.
hello! how’s it going? eh…this time i want to talk about the spring festival.
you must hear about this festival many times though you are not chinese, because the spring festival is one of the oldest festival in china and every time when you ask a foreigner “what do you know about chinese culture?” majority of them might answer “the spring festival!”. for chinese, that’s true the spring festival is a traditional and important festival. so let me introduce something about it.
there are some key points of it. “new year’s eve” ”poetic couplet” “paper-cuts” “do spring festival shopping” “propose a toast” “fireworks” “red packets” “give new year’s greetings” and so on. following is more clearly.
days before the new year
on the days before the new year celebration, chinese families give their home a thorough cleaning. it is believed the cleaning sweeps away bad luck and makes their homes ready for good luck to arrive. all brooms and dust pans are put away on new year's eve so that good luck cannot be swept away. some people give their homes, doors and windowpanes a new coat of red paint. homes are decorated with paper cutouts of chinese auspicious phrases and couplets (short phrases) that speak of "happiness," "wealth," "longevity."
reunion dinner
a reunion dinner is held on new year's eve where members of the family, near and far, get together for celebration. the new year's eve dinner is very large and traditionally includes chicken. fish, but not eaten up completely (and the remainder is stored overnight), as the chinese phrase (nián nián yǒu yú), which means "may there be surpluses every year", sounds the same as "may there be fish every year", since "yú" is also the pronunciation for "yú" ("leftover" or "surplus").
money given to children
on the night of new year’s eve or the first day of new years, just after the big dinner when people are gathered for talk, relatives usually put "yā suì qián" or "end of year money" in the red packets. that’s what kids all love. and at the same time kids should give new year’s greetings like “happy new year!” “live a happy life!”
the spring festival is more than what i told you. and sometimes i just think of it as a holiday. hope to hear from you.
