　　Since two-hijacked passenger planes crashed the World Trade Center to bits, the world has been bathed in tears. Shocked at this terrorist attack, we can’t help asking what “peace” is and how we can set ensured of peace.

　　Peace, in any language, is an easy term to pronounce. Peace evokes the simplest yet most cherished sentiment of human. Peace has always been mankind’s key driving force. Peace stands as the ultimate aim after which man aspires. Yet, the history of civilization has it black and white that while we speak incessantly of peace, man at times simply do things that eclipse or even lose its face.

　　Human nature being what it is, peace is never something to be attained at ease. And with competition supplying the major content of existence for us homosapiens, perfect peace, to many is but a word and a pursuit meaningless. But we just could not stand motionless against competition generating into clashes and conflicts, however strong man’s acquisitiveness is.

　　I find my heart bleeding while turning history’s pages, from the Greco-Persian war to the Crusaders, from Hitler’s concentration camps to Japanese Second World War bacteria experiments, the history of mankind had bloody killings for a better part of its unmistakable markings. And recent history, as revealed by the terrorist attack on the WTC twin-tower building, is not in the least nice. Rather, it sends the opposite truth: peace is missing amidst the many proud strides humanity has achieved on planet earth.

　　Close our eyes not, ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, in a time when humiliation, aggregation, slaughter and torture are being inflicted upon millions. Let’s stand firm on this faith: peace will prevail as long as we prevent the longings for peace being shaken to pieces. For our parents, grandparents and forefathers, their sufferings and having suffered from a lack of peace just didn’t undermine their belief in peace’s landing at their footsteps. Nor did all this stop them paying heavy prices to usher in peace for posterity’s goodness. Since they did not lose their hope for a society of peace and a world of peace, what ground can we hold other than this----- look forward and join our hands to reach out to peace.

　　With the WTC tragedy still there in the eyes, drawing nearer to the heart of many must inevitably be a sense of hopelessness. Lost no heart, I’ll tell them, for hopelessness can be easily be translated into dream, and dream to deeds. Once deeds are there, the light of peace will be shining our path of progress.

　　Women who ate soy regularly as children have a lower risk of breast cancer, American researchers report. And men who eat fish several times a week have a lower risk of colon cancer, a second team of researchers have told the American Association for Cancer Research.

　　The studies add to a growing body of evidence about the role of diet in cancer. Cancer experts now believe that up to two-thirds of all cancers come from lifestyle factors such as smoking, diet and lack of exercise.

　　The US National Cancer Institute and researchers at the University of Hawaii found that women who ate the most soy-based foods, such as tofu and miso, when aged 5 to 11, reduced their risk of developing breast cancer by 58 per cent. It was not clear how soy might prevent cancer, though compounds in soy called isoflavones have estrogen-like effects.

　　A second study showed that men who ate fish at least five times a week had a 40 per cent lower risk of developing colorectal cancer compared with men who ate fish less than once a week.

　　Many kinds of fish are rich in omega-3 fatty acids, which interfere with the cyclooxygenase-2 or COX-2 enzyme. COX-2 affects inflammation, which may play a role in tumour growth.

　　Chinese people have pursued our set way of the aim of life as“to be a man and hold a family then contribute to society”from ancient times. According to this, we can know obviously that “to be a man” has been regarded as the thing that a responsible adult should deal with, or we should say, aspire to be firstly.

　　As far as I could concern, “to be a man” not only means to show high moral standards, but to get well known about ourselves, yet we could hardly reach this standards by now because of the age or the lack of experience of living; however, things we can do would be more than just wandering around.

　　One who knows his own strength and that of the enemy is invincible in battle; all I want to say is that This Is Me is not just making a self-introducing or emphasizing, the speech I made is not talking about my personality or inner-quality, it is a slogan or an aphorism, which always warning us that: get to know ourselves and to be a man.

　　there is an old saying,” haste makes waste.” it is the experience of our ancestors; however, it is correct in many cases even today.

　　usually, if you act faster, you can reach your goals earlier. but it isn’t always the case. if you emphasize only on speed but ignore the quality of your work, your effect will be the opposite.

　　suppose you are preparing for your final examination. there are a lot of exercises to do and many notes to memorize. the fact that you have not enough time makes you very worried. therefore, you have read and write continuously, without rest, without sleep, without relaxation. the result is that your brain is less and less efficient, your process is slower and slower. the situation goes from bad to worse. all your efforts lead to nothing.

　　on the contrary, if you do your preparations with a calculated plan and carry out the plan step by step, your work will be effective. consequently, you will take part in the exams confidently with good preparations.

　　whatever you do, please remember the saying----haste makes waste. if you understand it and apply it to your study or work, you’ll benefit a lot form it.

Maybe passing a final test is a success for a student, learning to walk is a success for a little child, marrying a beautiful girl is a success for a lad, signing a contract is a success for a pany. Success varies from individual to group.

　　Success is a feeling, that means success is changing since your childhood. While you were a little child, you thought it was a success that your parents finally bought you lovely toys after you begged again and again. Success is the feeling you had when you were told that you won the contest. After graduation, you started working. You were successful when you finished a plicated task very well and you were praised. When married, maybe a happy marriage and a happy family meant success for you. When your child grew up, you hoped he or she attend a famous university or go abroad to study or work, at that time you considered that was your success. When you were old enough and couldn’t work at all, success was a feeling that your children and grandchildren came to see you from a long distance. Actually, success always acpanied you in your growth.

　　However, we have to admit that you can’t be successful all the time. We always meet many difficulties on the way to success. The more difficult it is, the much happier we are when we succeed.

　　To be successful, we should have a clear aim and then try our best to reach it. Wherever you go, whatever you are, your success belongs to yourself. It is a good feeling that you love it very much, and it really can make you laugh from the heart.
