Don’t worry if you do not yet know your supervisor’s name. Your project proposal will help us to find a supervisor for you in time for your arrival in Japan.
Don’t worry about making these decisions so early. There will be some flexibility to allow you to adjust your project plans in time for your arrival in Japan if necessary
To view a list of JTW students’ project titles over the last five years. This is just to give you an idea of the range of topics we can provide supervision for at Kyushu University. Don’t be put off a theme just because someone has done it already. Your own contribution will probably be unique!

7.And finally….
Your application will be reviewed by the JTW selection committee
Please bear in mind when you are preparing your application that competition for places on the JTW Program is intense, so make sure to fill out the form with care and to give due thought to your essay and project proposal. It is definitely worth bearing in mind our selection criteria. These are:

Guide for successful applicants (Visas etc.)
1. Visa Application
Once you receive notice from us that your application has been approved by the JTW Selection Committee, it is time to start thinking of making preparations for your arrival in Japan. Kyudai’s International Student & Researcher Support Center (ISRC) will help you apply for a student visa, reserve a dormitory room, and arrange pick-up service at the airport. This is all done online. Look for email from the Center, informing you about how to proceed. You will be given a website address, log-in ID, and password. You need to complete the application online with your ID and password.
You will receive from us, by early September(for Semester1) or by early March (for Semester 2), your Certificate of Eligibility. With this in hand, you should apply directly and immediately for a “college student” visa at the Japanese embassy or consulate that serves the area where you live. Although it takes a number of weeks for us to obtain and send to you the Certificate of Eligibility, it requires only a couple of days to obtain the visa. But you should not delay in applying. Of course you will need also to present your valid passport and several passport photos when applying for the visa. We suggest you contact the embassy or consulate in early September or in early March to inquire about visa application procedures and fees, as these will vary from country to country.
Also, It will be very important for us to know how to contact you, particularly via email, should the need arise, in the weeks just before your departure, so please be sure to tell us if the email and home addresses you from your original JTW application are changed.
2.Date of arrival
You are expected to arrive in Fukuoka on the end of September (students arriving for Semester 1), or on the end of March (students arriving for Semester 2).
Staff of International Student & Researcher Support Center and/or the student tutor assigned to you will meet you at Fukuoka Airport and escort you directly to International House, the residence hall where you will live. You will be given a handbook and schedule for the next few days at that time. We ask, then, that you tell us in a timely way when and how you plan to reach Fukuoka. Your cooperation in this will be most appreciated.
3.Accommodation
As a new arrival at Kyushu University, you are guaranteed a furnished room with bathroom. Each room is fitted with a single bed, writing desk, chair, wardrobe, refrigerator, and an air conditioner/heater. Pillows, bed linen, and blankets are not supplied but can be found at reasonable prices locally when you arrive. Shopping for food and other necessities is found conveniently nearby.
In addition, internet connectivity is provided in your room, though access is fee-based and contracted with a designated service supplier.
Tuition, Tuition Waivers & Scholarships
1.Tuition
You will be charged 14,800 yen* (as of 2010) for each registered credit–a total of 177,600 yen (for 12 credits) per semester, payable at the start of the term.

You may be exempt from paying tuition, however, if your home university has a student exchange agreement with Kyushu that includes a mutual waiver arrangement and if you are nominated as an exchange studnet by your home university.
3.Scholarships
If your home university has a student exchange agreement with Kyushu University, you may apply for one of a small number of scholarships funded by the Japan Student Services Organization (JASSO). You must indicate your interest when you apply for admission to JTW.

4.The JASSO award provides:
a monthly allowance of 80,000 yen, disbursed during your period of enrollment at JTW;
You are eligible to be considered for the JASSO scholarship if:
your home university has a formal student exchange agreement with Kyushu University and you are nominated as an exchange student by your home university.
you will not be receiving other substantial financial support to study in Japan.
Please note that mere eligibility for the JASSO scholarship does not assure the award, and that not all eligible applicants will be granted the scholarship due to limited available funding.
你所在的大学和九州大学有交换生协议,并且你被所在的大学提名为交换生;
你将不会享受在日本学习的其他足额的经济补助;
