　　附：求职信也称应征函。一般的公司在征才启事中，只会要求应聘者寄上履历及自传。求职信是应聘者主动表示自己对这份工作的热衷之一种表现。也就是说，履历及自传是被动的，是一种求职过程中所必备的文件。而求职信则是主动的，是求职过程中附带的，但具有争取面谈机会的一种半正式沟通作用。

　　严格来说，一封求职信的性质是正式的。因为写求职信的目的乃在于争取一份工作，而且写作的封象是一个公司或公司里某位高级主管，因此我们说求职信是一种正式文件。但是从另一角度来看，求职信是应聘者的权利。应聘者可以写，也可以不写这封求职信。如果他不写，没有人会让为他的应聘文件不完整，因为他寄了履历和自传。如果他写了，那是他强调自己对这份工作的认真态度，也是他除了履历和自传以外，一份和受信者之间，虽然正式但具有私人性质的额外沟通。融合这两层意义，所以我们称一封求职信为半正式的沟通。

　　了解了求职信的性质之后，我们再来了解它的功能。上面我们提到求职信是主动的、附带的、半正式的，而它的功能在哪里呢?它的功能乃在透过其主动而附带的书写行为，和受文者做半正式的沟通，进而使对方了解此应聘者积极认真的态度，最后达到取得面谈的目的。在此，我们要有一个认识：不管是求职信、履历表或自传，其目的都在被录取。而录取的关键乃在而谈。如果有面谈的机会，就表示有录取的希望。所以求职信、履历表及自传也等于是在争取面谈的机会。我们常在履历表或自传的最后一段看到应聘者写上这么一段：“希望贵公司给我面谈的机会。”便是这个道理。而求职信的功能便在加强受信者给予应聘者面谈机会的可能性。因为履历表和自传的功能乃在叙述自己的背景，是让对方了解自己的基本文件，进而肯定认同自己的能力。

　　有了这些认识以后，我们就可以充分利用这份属于应聘者专有的权利，为我们争取工作了。
